I managed to get away for a bit tonight and headed down the road to the Long Island locks. I processed a few HDR images as well as another using the “Orton technique” I wrote about earlier.

Cam & I hung out Saturday evening and after we went out for supper we decided to try this path I have been wanting to try by the river and see if we can get some nice photos.
While I was processing them later that night I remembered seeing an Orton tag in a Flickr photostream from one of the photographers I like to follow and they posted some work they did using the “Orton technique“.
I was very impressed and wanted to try it out so using a quick tutorial I found, I tried it on a couple of my images that I had shot 3 exposures for as I had intended on processing them for HDR. In some ways the results seem to be very similar to HDR although these tend to have a darker dreamier feel to them. It has lots of potential!

Well we managed to get downtown for a little bit today to the annual Tulip Festival here in Ottawa and I managed to snap a few pictures.
If you click on the flower to the left you can see some of photos I took.
Enjoy!
